** Personal First!

This morning's meteor scatter was unusual on several counts:

* The Quadrantids produced only short-range meteor scatter.
* Not a single PI code appeared due to the weak nature of the signals.
* Either this was some kind of backscatter or the meteors were arriving to my west. My antenna was beamed north-east throughout!
* The log is largely the result of five individual meteor bursts. Meteor scatter was poor and infrequent. This was nothing like the Quadrantids I have come to know and love.

I was hoping to hear a few local stations from Denmark, Norway or Sweden. That didn't happen.

Quite a few first timers in there for me. In view of this, I will probably record tomorrow morning, but I wasn't going to bother as meteor scatter has mostly been infrequent.

Good DX!

  1. re: 101.6, Gt Ormes Head is very unstable so you could confirm it that way if theres any patches of quiet/no modulation during the ping

  2. Thanks Tim. I am not able to check anymore but thanks for the tip. I don't usually keep the SDR files as hard drive space is limited here. If anything exceptional or unusual is heard then I will back up that file to a cloud site.

    Good DX!

    John.
