** Personal 'First'
Countless meteor bursts every few minutes in each 6 MHz range I recorded, the vast majority of them just fleeting pings and far too weak for RDS. These were punctuated by solid bursts or longer scattered activity almost every minute. Many of the regulars have been omitted.
I was really surprised by two of the catches tonight. BBC Radio 2 on 90.0 is a mystery, but the most likely and most distant transmitter is probably Weymouth at 343 km. Also BBC Radio 4 on 104.0 from Blaenplwyf comes in even closer at 311 km. The signal was too weak for RDS but a check against the schedule showed that Desert Island Discs was being aired at the time of the logging and I was able to match 104.0 with the podcast. 311 km!!! Is this the shortest band 2 meteor catch ever?
The antenna direction was around 70 degrees this time. A change is in order for tomorrow night.
Good DX!
