** Personal First
The day began with the strongest signals I have known from Italy. Some of them reached a whopping S9+60dB! (But bear in mind that I am using a Fringe Electronics 20dB pre-amp.)
All Belmont frequencies were either squashed or simply did not exist, as if Belmont had gone off the air! Examples of this included 102.2, usually occupied by a strong Lincs FM, and 88.8, BBC R2. Thgese frequencies were often 'empty' at times, as if they didn't exist. So even when the Italian stations dropped down in strength on these frequencies, Lincs FM and BBC R2 did not return and the frequencies had nothing on them. This is the weird effect an intense opening can have on the band. I have noticed this very same knocking out of local stations effect during intense tropo too.
I found myself struggling to find the enthusiasm to log anything during the morning Italian opening, so I concentrated on logging only those stations I had not received before.
There was relatively little 'soup' this time too as there was less of the usual Italian co-channel interference, but RDS still struggled to form in spite of the hefty signals.
The evening opening may have had some Turkish signals, but they were too brief and weak to identify.
Good DX!
