** Personal Skegness 'First' by the respective mode

The G-5500 rotator is now connected and aligned. Still really pleased with reception here. As I had hoped, the noise I get to the south is greatly reduced now the 9.2 is on the roof. It appears to be something in a nearby property. the one nearest the 9.2. At the most I am receiving the noise at 9 or 10dBf (GTK scale - no boosts), which is negligible. Background noise in all other directions is at 4 or 5dBf so very quiet. Phew!

Good DX!

  1. john congrats to your installation.
Do you have stil wishes with such a set up.
Your scatter remind me of fm scan on the isle of Texel(western island of north holland) where swedenm, denmark en norway always scattered in

  2. Thank you Gerard.

It was a lengthy and slightly complicated procedure to get the permission to have this antenna installed. The antenna will need lowering slightly if we have strong winds (which we will - this part of the Lincolnshire coast is known as "The Bracing Coast" because of its windy nature). The installation is such that it will be simple to raise and lower as necessary. I could add another metre to the height, but I don't think that will be necessary. The take-off is clear in all directions so I doubt that it will make any difference if I raise or lower the antenna by a metre.

As for a wishlist: I have no plans to use a larger antenna. I wouldn't be able to get permission for more than two anyway. In any case, I don't like having too much directivity as it will become easier to miss something off-beam. For DX wishes, I would like to receive Denmark and Norway on scatter. Both should be possible as they are well within the usual scatter range. Hopefully this will be possible in the summer.

As you will expect, the most distant German scatter here is very weak, but the higher powered transmitters such as Torfhaus, Brocken and Hoher Meissner can peak to noise free levels at best, but only just.

    Good DX and 73.

    John
